Busy Day

I have been on the run all day today!! I started out going to the grocery store this morning to get the food we are taking with us this weekend to go camping. I decided to do this at Chief in Bryan because I can get a better selection of stuff there. While I was there, I decided I better pick up a perscription that I have had in my purse for two weeks! I also got gas because it was cheaper over there than here. When I got home I unloaded everything, put everything away so the kids wouldn't get into the munchies before the weekend and checked the caller id. Aaron had called and then I made the mistake of calling him back! He had walked off without any of his pastry and he wanted me to bring him some of it. Which meant a trip to Montpelier!! So, I decided that since I was going to be over there anyway, I would call the dentist and see if they couldn't squeeze me in to get a filling replaced. I lost the filling last night and the tooth is almost non existant. So, I called them and yes, they had an opening at 1 pm. Yay!! So, I took Aaron is pastry and then killed an hour by going to the Dollar Store and Pamida and went to my appointment. As soon as I sat down in his chair he says he will probably send me to the oral surgeon because there is so little left of the tooth and he won't be able to pull it with the pliers. OK, so I come home and make that appointment and they can get me in for a consultation tomorrow at 3 pm. God knew I would need these appointments because both of them had been spots that had been canncellations!! But tonight I have to take Le to Toledo to accept a scholorship she received from the Pride of Toledo Chorus. And I hate driving in Toledo, but luckily it is just past Sam's club and I don't mind driving in that part of town! So, that is how my day is going so far and it is only 3:30 pm!
Hope everyone else's day has been a little slower than mine!

Bubba's Test Results

Sorry to my family for not getting this on right away. And thank you Kayla for reminding me! :)
I took Bubba last Tuesday to Defiance and they did an extensive hearing test on him. The one where he has to sit in the sound proof box with the head phones on and raise his hand when he hears the noise in his ear. They also measured his ear with an instrument that looked like ear plugs and made sure that everything inside was moving like it should. He did very well at the testing. He just started to get really bored by the end because he was wiggling around on his chair, but I couldn't blame him. I was a long processes. I had to laugh at him the one time though because the woman was reading words to him and he had to repeat them. Well, at one point she was switching ears or something and Bubba sat in there saying "I can't heeaarrr you!" Even she got a kick out of that! When it all ended she said that his hearing seemed to be within the normal range, but we still had to go see the doctor on Friday to get the official results. So, on Friday I took him to Dr. Smith in Hicksville and he checked Bubba out. He checked his nose, mouth, and throat. He wanted to make sure that tongue was able to make the correct sounds. That the mouth (especially the soft pallet) was formed correctly. He really did an excellent job. But he found nothing wrong!!!! He said that Bubba had substitution. When he was young, he heard the wrong sound and substituted another sound for it. It will just take some work to get Bubba to say the correct letters when he is talking. More or less he has to re-train his brain and mouth! So, we are working on different words at home and if he still needs it when school starts, they will put him in speech therepy.
But for now, everything is great!!!

Bubba

I went to the post office and gathered mail this morning. Ever since we moved I have been procrastinating every week about stopping at the post office. I got spoiled at the other house because they delivered to that address.
But anyway, the results from Bubba's kindergarten screening was in this whole stack of mail! The letter stated that he would be entering "regular" kindergarten next year!!! Yay!!! I am soooo happy for him. They said his strengths were vocabulary and weaknesses were fine motor skills. The vocabulary thing really threw me off. But, like Aaron said, it isn't his vocabulary that's the problem, it's his speech ability. Bubba is a very smart kid (even if I say so myself), but I was really worried about the speech problem.
I took him to the doctor on Monday and the doctor scheduled him for a hearing test. We go to Defiance for that on Tuesday and then we go to Hicksville on Friday to the ear doctor to find out the results. I pray that there is nothing wrong, that it is just him being slow to pronounce his words correctly. But at least we will know one way or another what is going on and can take care of the problem.
Bubba is not excited one little bit at the moment about going to school. He isn't like the girls when they were his age...begging to go with their older sister. I think the closer it gets to school time though, he will be more excited. Especially when we start buying school supplies and he gets the stuff like sissies!

Time Flies

I think this is the first time since Thursday that I have actually sat down at my computer at home. I started working for a friend of ours part time at his office and we just moved into a MUCH larger facility! On top of the move we have been trying to keep up with the day to day jobs and also do a huge project that was given to us. A new restraunt is open in Bryan and they asked us to do the menus. Chris spent hours on the design and her and I spent hours proofing and printing. Not to mention laminating them!!! But by 8:30 last night, they were completed.....at least for the moment. She still wants more, but we did up enough to get her started.
All the kids have been pretty good about straightening up after themselves at home, but considering they haven't been here much, the house doesn't look too bad.
I took Bubba to the doctor yesterday to get his physical for school and he had to get 3 shots to get him up to date. They gave him one in the arm and the other 2 went into his hips (butt). He started crying and yes......I almost cried too! Today he is being very gentle about sitting down! Poor little guy :( But even the nurse said he had a very little butt :)
